Position Details:

Location: Colonial Healthcare, a part of Optum - 1036 Professional Court, Manning, SC 29102

Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 8am-5pm availability (some days later) and Friday 8am-12pm / No evenings or holidays!  1 weekend on call shift per month!

Specialty: Family Medicine

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Helps patients by providing information, services, and assistance
  • Administering medications and injections
  • Venipuncture for lab draw
  • Performing EKGs, Spirometry, Flu and Strep Tests
  • Maintains medical supplies inventory and performing preventive maintenance to keep medical equipment operating
  • Verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit
  • Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; and reporting patient history summary
  • Saves doctors’ time by helping with office procedures
  • Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence and keeping patient information confidential
  • Process Referrals
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations
  • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt
  • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications
  • Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards; facility policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements
  • Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or completion of an equivalent adult education program
  • Medical Assistant diploma, technical certificate or certification OR 3 years of experience performing the critical skills of a medical assistant after on-the-job training
  • Active medical assistant certification (CMA, CCMA, NCMA or RMA)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years of clinical experience in a Family Medicine setting
  • CPR certification
  • Experience working as a Medical Assistant or EMT
  • Experience with electronic medical record software
  • Experience performing medical back office tasks including obtaining vital signs, injections/immunizations, phlebotomy, urinalysis and administering medications
  • Experience performing medical front office tasks including scheduling appointments, prior authorizations, medication refills and referrals
