Responsibilities:
The Clinical Informatics Specialist, under the guidance of the Manager, Clinical Informatics, is responsible for the analysis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical information systems that impact the nursing department and users. The Clinical Informatics Specialist is a change agent working with the physicians and other clinical specialties in the design, training and implementation phases of projects, as well as ensuring that appropriate procedures and processes are developed for sustaining the application of new systems and projects. The Clinical Informatics Specialist collaborates with Trinity Hospitals, ITAT committee and the UnityPoint Health System Committees to create and maintain a shared vision and active network of clinical relationships.

- Researches, evaluates and makes recommendations on the need for new information systems or system enhancements with nursing department end users, IT, vendors and management by evaluating existing operations and systems including potential cost savings, volumes, data flow, constraints, documents, reports and impacts to nursing end-users.
- Requests and reviews information from vendors related to new systems or system enhancements requested by nursing end-users, IT and TRHS Management. Ensures that clinical information systems are in compliance with JCAHO, CMS and/or other regulatory standards.
- Provides project management to Trinity IT staff and local staff on all clinical IT projects. Assigns clear authority and accountability, monitors progress against the plan. Identifies/anticipates barriers to collaboration and takes action to remove/minimize barriers
Minimum Requirements
Preferred or Specialized
Education:
RN Licensure- Iowa and Illinois
BSN, preferred
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an acute inpatient facility with clinical expertise
License(s)/Certification(s):
Registered Professional Nurse in Illinois and Iowa.
Valid driver’s license
