Overview
Under supervision and direction performs the turf, ornamental maintenance, grounds, parking lot, driveway and sidewalk maintenance including mowing, fertilizing, trimming, irrigation, snow/ice/sleet removal, asphalt patching and overall grounds-keeping of all the UnityPoint Health – Des Moines properties. Valid Driver's License required.
Responsibilities

· Demonstrates ability to operate the motorized and manual equipment assigned to the Grounds Department.
· On a daily basis maintains the main entrances, grounds, parking lots, driveways and sidewalks in good repair and clean of trash and debris to achieve specific quality, safety, service and regulatory goals.
· Observes and practices safety regulations and procedures, including but not limited to OSHA and DNV, in the care and use of equipment and tools.
· Removes snow, ice and/or sleet from UnityPoint Health - Des Moines parking lots, driveways and sidewalks utilizing sand and/or salt to achieve specific quality, safety, service and regulatory goals.
· Airify, spray, fertilize, mow and trim turf for all UnityPoint Health – Des Moines properties to achieve specific quality, safety, service and regulatory goals.
· Plants, maintains, and prunes trees, shrubbery and flowering plants for all the UnityPoint Health – Des Moines properties.
· Operates and repairs irrigation systems and fountains for all the Unity Point-DM properties.
· Attends Iowa State Turf Conference and Iowa State Shade Tree short courses to maintain CEU as scheduled by manager.
Qualifications

Education:
| High school diploma or equivalent preferred, or two Years of experience. Must eighteen (18) years of age or older.

Experience:
| Working knowledge of the care for a wide variety of plant, tree, and shrub materials. Working knowledge of operation and maintenance all equipment used in a grounds-keeping environment. Working knowledge of spraying and fertilizer calibration. Working knowledge of irrigation systems.

License(s)/Certification(s):
| Valid driver’s license required Current ornamental and turf pest control pesticide applicators certificate or the ability to obtain the certification within 1 year of employment.
