What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Tax Accountant position at Universal Audio, Inc?
The Senior Tax Accountant will play a key role in the organizations tax filings, strategic planning, and financial reporting processes. The ideal candidate should have a solid finance/accounting background, in-depth knowledge of California State and Federal tax laws, be organized and detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. This candidate will be able to provide excellent support to team members and assist with any implementation project as appropriate while providing solutions to issues and problems, as they arise.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately prepare tax returns, estimated tax payments, reports, and provision schedules.
- Maintain current knowledge of all California State and Federal tax laws and implement changes where necessary to ensure organizational compliance.
- Rectify and resolve any tax discrepancies, find solutions to prevent errors from occurring in the future and manage all appropriate documentation.
- Conduct tax research and analyze tax rates and geographic codes.
- Present information to the executive team and participate in meetings to discuss the impact and opportunities created by changes and/or addition to tax laws.
- Manage all tax related system changes in NetSuite, Shopify and Avalara.
- Review monthly sales and use tax returns prepared by Avalara.
- Complete business registrations.
- Manage the preparation of VAT declarations from beginning to end, including data collection, preparation in accordance with the filing protocol, submission, payment, and upload in the VAT filing dashboard.
- Accurately maintain VAT computations, VAT compliance, and perform VAT account reconciliation and VAT analysis.
- Work international tax consultant on preparation and submission of UA international subsidiaries tax returns.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience.
- 5-7 years of public accounting experience, a focus in taxes preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Suite products with intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with NetSuite preferred.
- Excellent problem solving/judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas.
- Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines.
- CPA preferred but not required
