JOB GOAL: Create lesson plans to build knowledge and skills in the health occupations. Provide instruction in a variety of areas associated with health occupations such as health and medical services, pharmaceutical and medical instruments, and supplies. Instruction includes, but not limited to foundations of health (medical terminology); anatomy and physiology; legal, ethical, and economic aspects of health care; clinical laboratory procedures; basic health occupational skills; aseptic techniques; OSHA regulations; and infection control. Assist scholars with clinical education as an integral part of the program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures to maintain order among students.
  • Instruct thorough lectures, discussions, and demonstrations in assigned subject(s).
  • Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress.
  • Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate the objectives to students.
  • Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time.
  • Provide students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
  • Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
  • Prepare content focused lessons plans for instruction.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing or science preferred
Possess a PA vocational certification in Health Related Technology or enroll in a teacher certification program.
Industrial Certifications: CPR, AED, First Aid, HIPPA, Personal Care-Direct Care Staff Person (PA Dept. of Human Services), OSHA Healthcare
Preferred Experience:
  • Must be a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse with four years of documented experience.
  • Experience with quality teaching, learning, and assessment processes.
  • Acceptable criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal
    resident alien status.
  • Bring a spirit of enthusiasm, energy, and multi-cultural awareness.
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to apply data analysis, new strategies, and evaluation techniques.
  • Understand and communicate current trends and best practices in curriculum, instruction,
    and assessment. Understand all applicable laws, regulations, and rules.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills in the areas of collaboration, team participation,
    creative problem-solving, conflict resolution, group planning, and decision-making processes.
  • Demonstrate the ability to deal with scholars beyond giving and receiving of instructions.
  • Be student focused.
  • Hold knowledge and fluency working with various needs assessment and research
    methods.
  • Be proficient in computer applications. Encourage use of technology in the delivery of instruction.
  • Understand the challenges that faculty and students face in using technology.
  • Prioritize work to meet schedules and timelines. Follow through and timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and good judgment in matters of school policy and procedures.
  • Utilize proper discretion in dealing with confidential matters.
  • Work well without close supervision and with little direction.
  • Be able to solve problems independently and manage projects alone.
  • Be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations.
