Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting students' academic, social, and emotional development. This position involves working closely with students, parents, and staff to create a positive learning environment and promote student well-being. The School Counselor will provide individual and group counseling, facilitate conflict resolution, and collaborate with educators to implement behavior management strategies.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to address students' academic, social, and emotional needs.
- Educate students on personal development topics such as mental health awareness, conflict management, and behavior management strategies.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop academic advising programs that support student success.
- Conduct assessments to identify students’ needs and develop appropriate intervention plans.
- Work closely with child protective services and social work professionals when necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
- Facilitate workshops and programs that promote positive behavior and mental health awareness within the school community.
- Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions and interventions in compliance with school policies.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders regarding student progress and support services available.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in School Counseling or a related field is required.
- Valid state certification or licensure as a school counselor is preferred.
- Experience in mental health counseling or behavioral health settings is highly desirable.
- Strong skills in conflict management, communication, and interpersonal relations are essential.
- Familiarity with academic advising practices is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while maintaining confidentiality.
