What are the responsibilities and job description for the AM Preschool Teacher - Part Time position at UNIVERSITY AVENUE DISCOVERY CENTER?
Start Date: November 20th 2022, start date is somewhat flexible.
The hours for this position would be Monday through Friday, 2.00 - 5.30pm

Duties
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Program and Curriculum
- Maintain, in conjunction with the other lead teacher and teaching assistants, a developmentally appropriate, safe, creative, nurturing, and challenging environment, both indoors and outdoors, for 3-5 years old students.
- Implement and maintain the curriculum and instructional objectives
- Possess strong verbal and written skills in communication with the teaching team, families, and the UADC administrative team.
- Demonstrate an understanding of family issues and cultural diversity and how they impact the development and learning of the child, and use this knowledge to inform teaching practices.
- Have a clear understanding of effective practices surrounding the use of positive social-emotional problem solving strategies.
- Collaborate with team teachers and share in and delegate both specific and general work tasks to teaching assistants.
- Prepare the environment and implement activities that model and promote:
- UADC's philosophy, values, and mission statement
Family Outreach
- Plan and participate in family outreach activities to include but not limited to: workshops, family nights, newsletters, and parent/teacher conferences.
- Conduct Parent/Teacher conferences twice yearly for your attachment group (usually 6-7 children per attachment group).
Requirements
Job Qualifications:
- Credential, Associates or Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, Early Childhood Special Education, or a related field.
- At least one year of experience teaching in a preschool classroom or a group childcare environment.
- Complete a Criminal Background Disclosure and fingerprinting with no criminal violations or offenses substantially related to the care of children.
- Medical examination and Tb test by a licensed physician indicating no illness that might be detrimental to the welfare of children.
- COVID vaccinated
