What are the responsibilities and job description for the Member Service Representative (MSR) position at University Credit Union?
The Member Service Representative assists new and existing members of the Credit Union with all of their account transactions and uncovers sales opportunities offered by University Credit Union as a part of an active, member driven “World Class” service and sales culture. In addition, this position acts as a resource in identifying and resolving member servicing issues.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Consistently provide an outstanding member experience, with a member first attitude.
- Accurately process all financial service transactions, maintain responsibility for cash drawer, and follow proper balancing procedures.
- Service new and existing deposit and loan accounts, and perform new account processing.
- Proactively advise members on our products and services, by effectively interacting with members on how to take advantage of its benefits and features.
- Achieve personal goals in deposits, loans, and referrals and assist the Branch in reaching new business development goals.
- Comply with regulations, credit union policies and procedures, and security procedures.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Meet and exceed financial, and production goals.
- To proactively develop, improve, and expand knowledge/skills while striving for performance excellence.
- Accurately complete all member requested, transactions and data input accounting to Jetstream policies and procedures.
- Ensure complete adherence to established policies and procedures paying special attention to balancing requirements.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required, with one to two years of similar or related experience in a financial environment.
- 1 year of College preferred.
- Organized, self-starter, knowledge of loan processing, accurate, detailed, professional, well groomed, articulate, written skills, knowledge/proficiency in Excel and Word.
- A minimum of two years of Cash Handling experience is required.
- A minimum of two years of experience as a Teller at a full-service financial institution is preferred.
- Ability to articulate clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Good reasoning abilities and sound judgment.
- Working knowledge of computer software programs, including word processing.
- Ability to handle detailed work.
- Basic understanding of Credit Union operations, including opening and closing accounts, loans and certificate procedures.
- A thorough knowledge of Teller and Member Service Representative operations and procedures.
- Understanding of the Credit Union philosophy.
- Knowledge of basic accounting procedures.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to be concise, clear and consistent
- Demonstrated effective problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to schedule and prioritize work.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and within deadlines.
