What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ultrasound Technologist position at University Hospital?
The primary purpose of the Ultrasound Technologist provides health care services for inpatients and outpatients of the University Hospital/DOC through the applications of non-ionizing radiation (in the form of ultrasound). The technologist performs general, OB/GYN, vascular ultrasound procedures for the interpretation of a licensed practitioner. The patient population ranges from newborn to maturity. Exercise professional judgment throughout the performance of his/her duties and maintains a demeanor that supports the values and mission of the department, ensuring that all interaction with patients, physicians, nurses, administrators, and other members of the hospital staff are professional and in accordance with the established guidelines of the institution.
Responsibilities
Must be a graduate of an approved Ultrasound Program.
ARDMS certification required, and current active registration required.
Annual fit testing required.
Must maintain valid certification by the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures
- Interacts with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure the plan of care is coordinated
- Maintains professional composure and confidence in the care setting
- Contributes to the achievement of excellence in the department
- Follows hospital infection control policies and procedures
- Performs other related duties as assigned
