Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Computational Scientist is to address various needs in imaging research and analytics for the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC) and various medical imaging based research projects. They will leverage existing open-source or other publicly available tools and develop new tools to enhance image processing capabilities of ADRC sponsored projects and other imaging related projects.
They will perform computerized image and raw data processing operations and statistical analysis of research data. They will also manage raw and derivative imaging data and coordinate with internal and external data-sharing initiatives. The Computational Scientist will also conduct individually-directed research in medical image processing, analytics, and clinically applied AI using medical images. They will participate in various collaborative projects by providing technical support, consultation, and expertise for image processing, analytics, and machine learning.
Collaborates in problem assessment, analysis, and development of computational methods or procedures, independently evaluates, selects, and applies appropriate methods to the specific research problems. Proposes solutions in engineering, the sciences, and other fields using mathematical theories and techniques. Optimizes and extends algorithms, analysis pipelines, and software in order to establish and ensure effectiveness and scalability of computing infrastructure. Provides consultation for and expertise with computer applications to complex research problems; performs computerized data processing operations and statistical analyses of research data; creates visualizations of results. Performs code review, analysis review, and writes summary reports to collaborators. Prepares figures for publication and helps to write manuscripts. Presents results internally and to collaborators and other groups
Duties and Responsibilities:
Doctorate degree in a related field OR Master's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain Alzheimer's Disease Research Center image processing tools and execute image processing tasks.
- Manage raw and derivative imaging data as well as data-sharing initiatives and requests.
- Establish cross-core SOPs for data management and sharing
- Streamline an image processing pipeline for function Magnetic Resonance Imaging and compute key metrics.
- Train machine learning and deep learning models to aid in computer-aided diagnosis projects for opportunistic screening
- Develop image processing pipeline for histopathology images. Perform code review and analysis review.
- Mentor trainees in research projects for image analysis and machine learning tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned

Preferred:
- Strong programming background in MATLAB, Python, or R; experience in medical image processing and analysis; strong analytical skills; strong communication skills for collaborative projects; experience in imaging AI or machine learning models is desirable.
- A candidate who has a PhD and least two years of post-doctoral research experiences.
- Candidates with PhD in computer science, biomedical engineering, medical physics, data science, medical informatics will be given priorities of consideration.

Salary : $85,600 - $93,000
