SCHOOL CERTIFYING OFFICIAL


To act as the primary U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) School Certifying Official. To keep the VA informed of the enrollment status of veterans and dependents and to keep the State Approving Agency (SAA) informed as required. To assist VA students in applying for benefits, maintain records of VA students, and make records requested by VA/SAA available for inspection. To remain up to date on current VA rules and benefits, and to attend required VA conferences to remain up to date on all VA changes.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide timely, accurate, and complete certifications within the Enrollment Manager system for veterans and dependents to the Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Ensures that the institution complies with VA regulations and policies, including maintaining accurate records and documentation related to the students' VA benefits
  • Programs student-oriented events to build the student veteran community. This includes marketing, collaborating, and coordinating logistics
  • Advise veterans, their dependents, and active-duty military personnel on procedures for attaining and using veteran affairs educational benefits. Informs benefit recipients of program eligibility and documentation requirements and assists them in applying for education benefits
  • Assist students who are experiencing issues regarding payment or problems regarding entitlement
  • Address and resolve any issues or discrepancies that may arise between the school, the student, and the VA
  • Attend VA training conferences and office hours to stay up-to-date with the latest VA regulations, policies, and procedures through ongoing training
  • Serve as the main point of contact for veteran affairs officials during annual audits
  • Coordinates with University departments to compile requested documentation
  • Oversee the VA work-study program, including scheduling and payroll
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Annual Salary: $40,000


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement. Must complete U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Online School Official Training.
