Your Role on the Team
Position Summary:
The Nurse Practitioner is a Masters prepared registered nurse, who possesses additional educational preparation and skill in physical diagnosis, psychosocial assessment, and management of health illness needs. This individual works in collaboration with the medical and hospital staff to provide multidisciplinary care of patients across the continuum of care and assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of outcomes for the Los Alamitos Medical Center patient population. This position brings a cohesive element to care, providing comprehensive care management, overseeing patient and family teaching, and consulting with members of the healthcare team to ensure all aspects of patients care. These elements are accomplished efficiently; provide clinical management and education for patients; utilize a scientific approach in the analysis of patient care; identifying opportunities for quality improvement, cost reduction, and re-education based on current research findings. The position practices in accordance with TJC State and Specialty regulatory criteria and practices under the guidelines of standardized procedure as authorized in Title 16, Section 1474 of the Nursing Practice Act.

Required Qualifications:
- Masters of Science Degree in Nursing
- 3 years as a registered nurse
- Current CA RN License
- Current CA Nurse Practitioner Certification
- CA Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Certificate Current National Provider Identification
- Current DEA License at time of credentialing
- MSN graduates from 2008-present are required to have and maintain National Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner for the patient population being served
- Current AHA BLS Certification
- Current ACLS Certification
- Current NIHSS Certification
- Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
- Doctorate Nursing Practice Degree
- 5 Years Experience as a Nurse Practitioner
- Sub-specialty certification in practice area.
