Your Role on the Team

Under the general supervision of the Director of Student Affairs, the academic advisor provides high quality support and customer service to undergraduates, faculty, and staff in the School of Education. Advises undergraduates about a variety of procedures and requirements for completing their degrees. Analyzes, interprets, and explains University policies and procedures such as, add / drop, change of grade, transferability of courses, course substitutions, student behavior, grade point average requirements, and change of major. Assesses student needs, goals, problems, and personal adjustments relating to or affecting their academic performance. Anticipates and resolves problems in a timely manner. Works closely with student service offices on campus and provides resources for students to use in regards to academic life on campus. Oversees all aspects of fieldwork advising for the Education Sciences majors.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $25.77- $30.22 (Hourly).

Required :

  • Knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
  • Knowledge of University-specific computer application programs and pertinent databases.
  • Ability to multi-task; verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Multicultural competencies; ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Basic knowledge of student immigration and visa processes pertaining to international students and scholars.
  • Ability in problem identification and reasoning.
  • Skills in service orientation, organization, active listening, and critical thinking.
  • Knowledge of University processes and procedures.
  • Understanding of University rules and regulations.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • 1-3 years
