Evening, weekend, distance education, television, and or off-campus classes for UH Maui College and or Outreach sites (Lanai and Molokai) may be assigned as part of the regular workload.
This is NOT a remote position – job requires in-person work.
Duties & Responsibilities:- Teach assigned courses in the discipline qualified for.
- Maintain minimum of one office hour per week for each course taught.
- Prepare course syllabi, grading and reports related to teaching and student progress
- Work under supervision of discipline coordinator/division chairperson in integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area.
- May include instructional assignments involving distance education.
- Other duties as assigned
As listed below. All minimum qualifications must be from an accredited institution and met by the effective date of appointment. If qualified applicants are not available, those not meeting the minimum qualifications may be considered on an exception basis.
- Associate Degree in Building Trades or Industrial Technology AND five (5) years related work experience
- Fifteen (15) college credits in Building Trades or Industrial Technology AND seven (7) years related work experience including training.
- Current or former Electrical, Plumbing or other trade Journey Worker license
- Renewable energy or General Contractor
- Facility Engineer/Maintenance Technician
- Operations and Maintenance Director/Manager
- Licensed Architect/Civil Engineer
- Professional work experience and knowledge in two or more of the following trades: Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Carpentry, Drafting, Masonry, Plumbing, Electricity, Welding, Painting and Sustainable Technology
- Teaching experience at the Community College or Trade Apprenticeship level
- Familiarity with competency-based instruction and behavioral objectives
- Experience in distance education
- Demonstrated ability to work with adult learners
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Demonstrated ability to work with students on an individual/informal basis and to work with people with multi cultural backgrounds and abilities.
