Other Conditions: For placement into the lecturer pool beginning Fall 2024. Subject to availability of funds and actual staffing requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach courses in the assigned subject area;
- Prepare course syllabus and reports related to teaching and student progress;
- Assess student learning in terms of course competencies and program learning outcomes;
- Submit self-assessment reports based on student and peer evaluations;
- Work under the general supervision of the discipline coordinator/division chairperson in integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area;
- Maintain one office hour per week for each class taught (20 minutes per credit per week).
- Classes may be offered online, evenings and/or weekends.
- Master's in Mathematics; OR
- Master's in Math Education with 18 credits of advanced coursework* in math of which 9 credits are at the graduate level OR
- Master's of Art in Teaching Math with 18 credits of advanced coursework* in math, at least 9 of which are at the graduate level OR
- Master's in STEM-related fields (applied math, engineering, physical science, and biological science) with 18 credits of advanced coursework* in math.
- "Advanced" coursework" is defined as 300-400 level courses offered in a bachelor's program. "Graduate level" coursework is defined as post-baccalaureate courses at the level specified by the institution where the credits were earned.
Desirable Qualifications
- Teaching experience related to the course(s) to be taught at the community college level.
- Demonstrated ability to work with community college students.
- Work experience related to the course(s) to be taught.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively.
- Familiarity with competency- and outcomes-based instruction.
