Description:
The Admissions Department is seeking motivated and detail-oriented students to provide administrative, customer service, and event support. This position offers the opportunity to gain valuable professional experience in a higher education environment while assisting prospective students, current students, and campus visitors.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Greets and assists visitors, students, and staff in a friendly and professional manner
- Answers incoming phone calls, responds to inquiries, and transfers calls to the appropriate staff member
- Assists with applications and supporting documents
- Assists with campus tours, admissions events, and information sessions as needed.
- Performs data entry, scanning, copying, and other clerical duties
- Provides general office support to Admissions staff and completes special projects as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Flexible schedule during regular business hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.)
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a current UH Downtown student with a valid Federal Work-Study award for the academic year.
