Job Description Summary:
Responsible for the receiving, sorting, tracking, and distribution of all mail and packages for the KUMC campus.
Job Description:
Receives, inspects and sorts all USPS mail and Inter-office mail for the KUMC campus (includes daily mail pickup from the post office). Receives, inspects and sorts all packages and parcels received via various carriers such as UPS, FedEx, Fisher, etc. Verifies all recipients and researches discrepancies to ensure accuracy of all deliveries. Documents any damage identified with mail and/or packages upon receipt. Utilizes automated package tracking system to log and record all packages received, and to ensure accurate and efficient delivery of all mail/packages. Creates delivery route using package tracking system.
Delivers all mail, packages and parcels utilizing established delivery routes, in accordance with established departmental standards. Obtains appropriate signatures on mail and packages, as required, to confirm delivery.
Collect outgoing mail utilizing established routes.
Stamps, processes and records all campus out-going mail/packages utilizing automated postage metering systems. Appropriately sorts and prepares out-going mail and/or packages. Ensures appropriate account numbers are applied for departmental charge-back purposes.
Provides assistance to customers at the service window. Assists customers in completing necessary USPS and FedEx Express forms. Resolves minor customer complaints or issues. More difficult complaints, or issues, are referred to the Logistics Supervisor and/or the Logistics Manager.
Provides assistance with various Central Logistics Services duties as required. Assists with various project initiatives within the section or the Facilities Management Storeroom.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Logistics Supervisor and/or the Logistics Manager.
** Required Qualifications **
One year clerical or office assistant experience, and/or six months of experience in receiving, inspecting, sorting packages and mail.
** Preferred Qualifications **
One year of experience in a receiving dock or mail room setting.
