Job Description
The Mishra Lab investigates the cardiometabolic effects of asprosin, a newly discovered protein hormone. By combining advanced molecular biology, neuroscience, and mouse behavior and physiology studies, Mishra lab research focuses on three core areas: uncovering novel neural roles of asprosin, developing breakthrough therapies to target it, and elucidating its cell signaling pathways. Recent work by Dr. Mishra has uncovered asprosin’s role in thirst regulation, identified its neural receptor for thirst and appetite stimulation, and developed monoclonal antibodies and receptor trap as therapeutics inhibiting asprosin function.

Essential Qualification/Experience:
- A Ph.D. in neuroscience, biochemistry, pharmacology, life sciences.
- Experience in mouse behavior analysis, in vivo animal assays, biochemistry techniques
- Experience in cell culture
- Strong analytical written, oral and communication skills.
- Experience of working in a research team environment.
- Experience of writing research reports, publications or other relevant outputs.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Perform various behavioral and physiological assessments in mice, including assessment of blood metabolite parameters, blood pressure recording, rodent behavior assays, and perform basic neuroscience techniques including immunohistochemistry, fluorescence microscopy (required)
- Work with transient expression of transgenes in cell expression systems and perform data analysis (required)
- Previous experience of performing recovery surgeries in mice (desired but not required)
- Previous experience of transcriptomic and proteomic analysis (desired but not required)
- Knowledge and experience with a multitude of advanced biochemistry techniques such as: qPCR, CRISPR, immunoblotting, and enzymatic activity assays (required)
- Experience with data analysis systems such as Prism, Excel, R (required).
