This position allows for an optional hybrid work arrangement which includes a combination of both in-office and remote work arrangements. (Maximum of two days remote, three days in-office). To be eligible for the program, employees must complete a minimum of 6 months of continuous, regular employment, be in good standing, and submit a formal hybrid work application prior to being eligible for hybrid work, pending supervisor approval. Work schedules will be established by the employee's supervisor according to business needs. Working locations and schedules may be altered at management discretion.

Job Purpose:   Responsible for analyzing complex companies and preparing presentations on findings to senior management.  As part of this process, the credit analyst reviews business loan applications and supporting financial statements to determine the borrowing capacity, capitalization and cash flow of the applicant, and prepares financial statement spreads, trend analysis, and ratio analysis to assess collateral/industry risks and guarantor strength.  This position also conducts site visits.

JOB SPECIFIC RESULTS

  1. Analyzes financial information on new and existing business (commercial) loans/applications to assess creditworthiness of existing or prospective members to determine in depth the degree of risk involved.  This includes working with Commercial Relationship Officers to ensure all financial information is collected for the credit analysis process.
  2. Submits business loan analysis to credit union in an objective written format for loan review and approval.  Prepares written reports with appropriate supporting data of the financial strengths/weaknesses and risk assessment of the borrower for review and decisioning by employees with appropriate lending authority as outlined in Business Loan Policy.   Maintain awareness of economic and market conditions that may adversely affect the quality of the loan portfolio.  Provides the best service to our members with innovative and creative solutions.
  3. Underwriting authority up to a maximum amount as stated in Business Loan Policy.
  4. Completes timely and accurate annual financial reviews and site visits on borrowers with business loans whether they are member business loans or participations to assign appropriate risk rating and identify any deterioration or change in capacity to meet terms of loan and related covenants.
  5. Backs up commercial loan processing from application to closing to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  6. Works within the commercial operations team to help improve exceptional service delivery to members and cost effective underwriting.

  1. Maintains member and employee confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential and sharing on a business-related as-needed basis only.
  2. Engages in problem resolution by clarifying the member’s and/or employee’s complaint; determining the cause of the problem; selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the problem; expediting correction or adjustment; following up to ensure resolution; and keeping the supervisor informed of problems and solutions.
  3. Complies with UKFCU policies and procedures by enforcing and adhering to internal UKFCU procedures and board-established policies.
  4. Complies with federal, state and local regulations and legal requirements by enforcing and adhering to requirements.
  5. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by maintaining an awareness of competitors’ rates and terms, industry trends and technology; attending staff meetings; identifying opportunities to attend seminars that enhance skills and maintain knowledge of new products that could assist in improving operational effectiveness; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; and participating in professional societies.
  6. Contributes to a team effort by accomplishing corporate and individual goals and other related results as needed.

Qualifications


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Three to five years of commercial credit experience or related experience.
  • College degree or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to communicate with others one-on-one and in groups, fielding questions and responding to complaints.
  • Ability to motivate and influence others, foster sound relationships, present a trustworthy and diplomatic image, and deal effectively with others concerning topics of a personal or sensitive nature.
  • Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; good time-management, organizational, problem-solving and problem-prevention skills.
  • Ability to understand federal tax returns, including personal and business returns with the ability to determine income for simple and complex commercial credits.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions while dealing with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to write reports, correspondence, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs and deadlines.
  • Ability to produce accurate and punctual work in an organized manner.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee will be required to work indoors in a climate controlled office setting most of the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Occasionally however, an employee will be required to travel short to moderate distances in order to complete offsite property inspections. These inspections may require an employee to work outdoors where the environment is variable and cannot be regulated. Hot, cold, or wet conditions may be encountered. The noise level could vary by location.
