Description
The Department of Visual Arts at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is seeking applicants for the tenure-track Assistant Professor of Animation position, a full-time, 9-month appointment, beginning August 1, 2024. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
M.F.A. with broad knowledge of and the ability to teach CG animation, digital animation, and stop-motion animation. Expertise in Clip Studio Paint, Photoshop, and After Effects is required. Experiences in Maya, Dragon Frame, TV Paint Animation, and Adobe Substance desired. Recent graduates are highly recommended to apply.
The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence in a diverse student-centered learning environment and will teach three courses in the animation concentration, including introductory courses in animation and digital art. The position requires oversight and maintenance of the animation area equipment and facilities.
The laptop-based animation studio has a smart interactive whiteboard, instructional computer, and 20 graphics display tablets. A stop-motion animation studio has Dragon Frame and 2D/3D shooting stations. The Digital Media Resource Center in the College of the Arts supports the introductory digital art courses.
The Department of Visual Arts is NASAD accredited. The Department has 18 full-time faculty, 7 part-time faculty, and over 330 majors in 9 concentration areas within an integrated curriculum leading to a B.F.A. degree. The Department additionally teaches those students receiving the B.A. in Art Education.
