Position Title: Business Analyst
Department: 9030|IRI-Tech Transfer
Responsibilities:
The Business Analyst is responsible for identify business areas that can be improved to increase efficiency and strengthen business processes. The Business Analyst will work closely with stakeholders from all levels of the organization as well as clients to understand their needs and develop solutions that meet those needs.
The Business Analyst will report to the Chief Technology Officer of the Informatics Research Institute.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements and design business solutions that meet those needs.
- Support the collection and analysis of data, providing better solutions, technology integration, or systems improvements.
- Document the “as is” process, outlining how information flows through the organization.
- Create process flows to facilitate common understanding of the “as is” process by all the stakeholders.
- Identify all the systems used currently to ensure we have documented the plan appropriately for migration/integration.
- Create process flows to understand the “to be” process, including data & process flow between all connected systems to facilitate common understanding by all the stakeholders and to facilitate integration.
- Perform requirements analysis. Document and communicate the results of these efforts.
- Provide training and support to other team members on business analysis tools and techniques.
- Conduct research to identify new data sources and methodologies that can be used to improve data collection and analysis processes.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
- OR 5 years of work experience in business analysis in real world settings may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in business analysis.
- MBA or master’s degree in a closely related field.
- Analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent planning, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
