Summary
This is an hourly position as a research assistant. The research assistant will assist on a project, working with Social Sciences faculty and the Detroit City Council Historic Designation Advisory Board. Responsibilities include conducting searches at area archives like the Burton Library, the Reuther Library and the Arab American National Museum, identifying relevant materials, scanning them, organizing them for the research team, and providing brief descriptions of these documents, images, and other materials. This requires moderate Arabic language proficiency and the ability to travel to local archives. The researcher will also need to attend a few public meetings and to conduct online searches. The researcher may also conduct oral history interviews with some subjects and provide transcripts of these interviews.

The Research Assistant Should Be Familiar With
- Arabic language;
- Google Drive and Google Sheets;
- Communicating professionally;
- Oral history methodologies;
- Collecting and analysis of interview data;
- Collecting and analysis of archival materials;
- Must have their own transportation;
- Must also be a current student.
- Previous research experience.
