Provide leadership and vision for IT infrastructure supporting UNMC’s research activities, including software, hardware, servers, and research instrumentation. Drive innovation in research technology, ensuring adoption of new tools and systems to advance research capabilities. Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive research technology strategy aligning with institutional goals.
Lead the growing research enterprise at UNMC by providing IT expertise. Directs the programming, database administration, application development, data processing storage for research activities at UNMC, as well as for research activities outside the campus. Provides management direction and leadership in operations. Manage team of programmers and analysts who provide support for research IT needs at UNMC.

Experience in the use of System and Application Architecture, AWS app/database hosting system, High Performance Computing systems and network knowledge surround these clusters. Vendor product implementations like MRI, Mass Spec, TRiNetX, and Paradigm, and clinical trail systems. Facilitate clinical and basic science research design architectures.
- Proven leadership experience in research IT infrastructure in an academic or research-driven environment.
- Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Box), super computing, and data governance.
- Strong background in data security, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards for research data management.
- Experience with AI/ML technologies in a research context is preferred.
- Budget management skills, with a strong sense of fiscal responsibility.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with faculty, staff, and external partners.
- Experience leading diverse teams, with a focus on IT professionals and researchers.
- Familiarity with administrative processes like IRB and Sponsored Programs Administration in a research setting.
- Strong research IT domain expertise with problem solving skills.
