Position SummaryThe University of New Mexico School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics is recruiting a full-time faculty position to join 3 other faculty members in the division of Pediatric Nephrology. The Department of Pediatrics is a multi-specialty group of >100 faculty at New Mexico's only medical education and research institution. The Division of Nephrology offers complete clinical care services for infants, children and adolescents with congenital and acquired renal disease. Inpatient consultation is provided to PICU, NICU and general pediatric services. A pediatric outpatient dialysis unit is on-site within the Children's Hospital of New Mexico. Pediatric renal transplantations are performed as part of an active transplant program. Outpatient service provides care at the Children's Hospital and outreach clinics throughout the state of New Mexico. This individual will be required to teach, provide clinical care, conduct basic or clinical research, and possess strong interpersonal skills.

The position is designed for a candidate at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with a strong interest in basic or translational research. The position also involves teaching of medical students and pediatric residents at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Board certified / Board eligible in Pediatric Nephrology by the American Board of Pediatrics.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Able to obtain state licensure(s) in the state of New Mexico.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in acute and chronic dialysis in pediatric patients.
  • Experience in pediatric renal transplantation.
  • Interest in or experience conducting basic or clinical research.
  • Experience teaching house staff and medical students.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
