SHRS-Sports Medicine and Nutrition
The NMRL/WHPRC is a state-of-the-science laboratory encompassing 11,600 square feet of space and features state-of-the-science capabilities in exercise physiology, bone adaptation, and morphology (HRpQCT and DEXA), exercise biochemistry, strength, and performance assessments. The mission of the NMRL/WHPR is to mitigate musculoskeletal injuries and optimize human performance by conducting innovative, multi-disciplinary, basic, and applied research providing evidence and translating scientific knowledge, enhancing clinical decisions and education. This research will lead to improved quality of life and resiliency in athletic, military, and active populations. Our vision is to be internationally recognized as a premier academic research center and its faculty as thought leaders in human performance optimization and musculoskeletal injury prevention. Essential Functions
Provide administrative support for the NMRL which serves as the applied research facility and location for graduate classes in the Sport Science and Sport Medicine (MS) and Rehabilitation Science (PhD) degree programs.
Support director, associate director, as well as other departmental faculty, the finance and personnel manager and department chair; work closely with other department administrators located in Forbes Tower.
Manage overall office operations to ensure efficient functioning across academic and research programs. Support faculty academic needs for classes and labs; schedule usage of laboratory and classroom for classes and meetings. Oversee meeting preparations/minutes. Manage calendar for NMRL director.Respond to administrative/academic requests as liaison to the dean’s office and department faculty leadership. This person will handle highly confidential information.
Supervise student workers and authorize hours. Greet SMN students, research participants, and other visitors upon entrance. Support and manage special projects.
Assists finance and personnel manager in keeping records of purchases and expense reports; perform inventory and ordering of supplies. Make travel arrangements (air, car and hotel) for faculty, GSR’s and staff; reconcile OneCard, Concur, PRISM, Panther Express transactions into spreadsheets; execute journal entries for money transfers between department accounts and grants; process and manage course fees and develop tracking system to ensure appropriate allocation and reconciliation of fee for testing deposits.
Leads social media and marketing activities for department to include updating display cases and bulletin boards; coordinates engagement efforts on various platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Physical Effort
Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
