Responsibilities
Position Summary:
This position has the primary responsibility for the pre-analytical processing of patient specimens that are to be accessioned into the laboratory.
Supervision and Direction Received:
Technicians works under the guidance of the Laboratory Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor.
Supervision and Direction Exercised:
None
Instruments and Equipment Typically Used:
Standard office equipment, software systems such as SOFT and eRecord.
Typical Assignments and Responsibilities:
- Pre-analytical handling and processing of specimens which may include centrifugation and storing of samples.
- Tracks and documents receipt of specimens.
- Tracks missing specimens.
- Performs equipment maintenance.
- Manages sample archive storage system.
- Receives incoming telephone calls and triages to appropriate laboratory personnel.
- Manage inventory
- Stock supplies
- Autoclave
- Clean/file microscope slides
- Performs other responsibilities and projects as assigned.
Technologists may be required to rotate weekends.
Qualifications:
- Associate Degree
- An equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology a plus.
- Familiarity with PC's and software applications needed.

- Punctuality and good attendance record.

- Adherence to laboratory safety procedures.

Pay Range
Pay Range: $18.16 - $24.52 Hourly
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined byconsidering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Salary : $18 - $25
