$21.36 - $29.90The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSEPrepares data reports for review by management staff. Abstracts and codes clinical data. Attains follow-up data by reviewing medical records, physician notes and interviewing patients. Compiles, organizes and reports medical case data as instructed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs identification of patients meeting inclusion criteria into trauma registry, data collection through EMR chart abstraction of hospitalization, data validation through various reports and peer review, and registry performance improvement.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement in workflow and data collection efficiency and accuracy, and data conversion and uploads to medical databases.
- Maintains communication with various agencies and liaisons from prehospital and inpatient teams to acquire necessary data.
- Maintains updated references and resources for data collection in line with standards of state and industry governance boards.
- Responsible for orientation of new registrars. Performs administrative tasks, including registry software updates and resolving technical issues.
- Utilizes registry report writing software to produce reports, as needed, for primary use in trauma research.
- Analyzes reports for various trauma verification metrics.
- Acts as liaison on projects, serving as a resource to research team in data collection/definitions and data analysis.
- Attends various trauma program meetings as representative of registry and of trauma program, weekly registry meetings, and state and industry council meetings.
- Participates in various trauma outreach and education activities.
- Serves integral role in trauma verification preparation process in preparing charts for reviews and data collection for pre-review questionnaire.
- Upholds continuing education requirements as set by the board of governance standards.
- Assists trauma leadership as requested with other duties.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree required or
- Graduate of an approved Health Records Administration/Health Information Technology/Medical Records Technician program required Or equivalent combination of education and experience
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Certification in an approved Registered Health Information Technician upon hire preferred.
