The position reports directly to the Vice Chancellor for Development and Alumni Affairs. The Major Gift Officer will be responsible for aggressively pursuing the fund-raising goals of the University of South Carolina Aiken. Individual will be responsible for generating new contacts directly and expanding relationships with key existing and prospective donors. Solicitation of major gifts and expertise in planned giving are important aspects of this position.
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of successful higher education or related fund raising/development experience; demonstrated success in raising funds from individual and institutional/corporate donors; Must be available to work flexible hours and travel. Knowledge of Blackbaud CRM database preferred. University fundraising experience strongly preferred.
Superlative written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated presentation abilities, excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills; organizational skills to manage multiple concurrent tasks; ability to maintain high level of confidentiality; ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to confer with a broad spectrum of university, community and business leaders.
