Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
Develops budgetary forecasts across multiple accounts for the College of Engineering and Computing ( CEC ); Reviews and reconciles fiscal reports prepared by the CEC’s Office of Grants and Contracts ( OGC ). Prepares reports and planning tools to assist faculty in post-award planning of expenditures on multiple project accounts. Advise the PI on strategies to ensure funds are expended in a timely and appropriate manner. Recommends alternative funding and spending options to faculty as new accounts are established and in preparation for grant close-out.
Works with the CEC to document and monitor expenditures; Calculates and monitors the progress of all grant-related expenditures through the University system. Verifies the correctness of expenditures as they are posted and informs faculty PIs when problems occur. Corresponds with appropriate personnel as directed by faculty to correct problems on accounts.
Prepare Time and Effort reports, obtain signatures, and process in a timely manner. Prepare and provide current and projected financial data and non-financial reports as required to CEC Director of Research, CEC Budget Director, and/or PI for assigned accounts. Process transactions related to the management of PI funds as needed. Collect confidential administrative business data and statistics for ABET , annual reports, national and other surveys as requested.
Act as liaison for the college with faculty, staff and other university departments, outside agencies and institutions and general public. Assist as needed with grant training. Accepts and performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)
Master’s degree and 4 years related experience in business, public administration or administrative services, or bachelor’s degree and 6 years related experience; or equivalency.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience with university software (Accounting Intranet, PeopleSoft). Related experience in higher education environment preferred. Experience working with faculty on fund management planning with multiple project accounts and recommending strategic spending options based on all funding sources. Experience communicating with faculty and other staff to correct any issues found during review of grants and other funding sources.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Applicable knowledge of university policies and procedures and the ability to analyze financial data, records, and reports. Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to interact with faculty, students, and staff of diverse cultural backgrounds; and exercise discretion in handling confidential financial matters.
Candidate must be able to manage tight deadlines and competing priorities with functional proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
