The Division of Neurology, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC) are actively seeking a full-time pediatric neuropsychologist for a faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor of Neurology and Pediatrics (Practitioner). The position will include an academic appointment at Keck School of Medicine, University of California (USC) at a rank commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will join a team of neuropsychologists at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, whose members span the divisions of Neurology and Hematology/Oncology. This cross-divisional collaboration provides significant opportunities for mentorship and professional development, research, supervision of neuropsychology trainees, and program development.

Division Of Neurology

The Division of Neurology is part of the Neurosciences Service Line (the Neurological Institute) which has been highlighted as a key service line by the hospital. The Division of Neurology is currently undergoing rapid expansion with the development of comprehensive clinical general and sub-specialty child neurology programs as well as enhancement of its research portfolio. An integrated clinic space for the Divisions of Neurology and Neurosurgery opened in the Spring of 2021. The goal of the Neurologic Institute is to offer comprehensive neurologic services in a patient-centered environment. Neurology & Neurosurgery has been consistently ranked nationally among the top 10 programs in the US News & World Report rankings. CHLA is a busy urban teaching hospital with a diverse patient population. There is a very active outpatient neurology clinic with subspecialty programs in neuromuscular disorders (MDA), epilepsy (including a Level 4 epilepsy center providing surgical resection, VNS, and ketogenic diet), movement disorders, neuro-intensive care, pediatric stroke, neurocutaneous disorders, and demyelinating disorders. Furthermore, there is ongoing clinical research within our general child neurology and subspecialty programs.

Neuropsychologist

Essential Responsibilities


  • Conduct primarily outpatient clinical neuropsychological evaluations for pediatric neurosurgical and neurological referrals, with a particular emphasis on pre- and postsurgical epilepsy.
  • Fulfill neuropsychologist role in Wada and fMRI studies.
  • Participate in weekly multidisciplinary Epilepsy Surgical Conference.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary clinical activities with neurologists, epileptologists, and neurosurgeons.
  • Provide clinical supervision to doctoral-level neuropsychology externs and postdoctoral neuropsychology fellows.


Additional Responsibilities


  • Engage in independent and collaborative clinical research.
  • May participate in multidisciplinary clinics.
  • May provide consultation with regard to cognitive and behavioral rehabilitation for patients with neurological disorders (e.g. epilepsy, developmental delay, stroke).
  • May act as a liaison between neurology and other medical departments to develop appropriate triage and treatment programs for patients with complex medical and neuropsychological/psychosocial needs.


Education/Licensure/Certification/Qualifications: Requirements for this position include completion of an APA-accredited doctoral program in psychology with formal training in clinical neuropsychology, completion of an APA-accredited internship, and completion of a formal 2-year postdoctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology with a pediatric emphasis. Applicants must be licensed as a PhD or PsyD psychologist in the state of California before appointment begins. Qualified candidates must be board certified through ABPP/ABCN or be prepared to seek such certification, which will be expected. Candidates should possess strong clinical, interpersonal, analytical and writing skills. Research experience will be an asset. Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred.

The annual base salary range for this position is $81,811-$235,856.
