Purpose
The Director of Alumni Relations and Reunion leads the strategy, planning, and execution of Texas Law’s annual Alumni Reunion. Held each spring, Reunion is a signature Alumni Association event that reconnects classmates with each other and the Law School. In partnership with key teams, the Director leads Reunion programming, volunteer engagement, and targeted fundraising—strengthening alumni relationships and advancing philanthropic goals. This role reports to the Senior Director of Alumni Relations and works closely with alumni leaders, faculty, and the Development, Events, and Marketing & Communications teams to deliver a meaningful experience for 10 honored classes each year.
Texas Law’s Alumni Relations and Development team is a highly collaborative group that values proactive communication, kindness, and emotional intelligence. We believe these qualities are essential to building lasting relationships with alumni, colleagues, and the broader Law School community.
Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership and Program Oversight: Lead Reunion strategic initiatives to strengthen alumni engagement and support Texas Law’s philanthropic goals. Design initiatives collaboratively with the Development, Alumni Relations, Events, and Marketing & Communications teams, encompassing event programming, fundraising campaigns, communications strategies, and budget oversight to increase alumni attendance and giving participation annually. Ensure alignment across internal teams and report regularly to the Chief Development Officer and Senior Director of Alumni Relations. Use data to guide decision-making, evaluate outcomes, and identify opportunities for improvement. Stay current on higher education trends and recommend strategies to evolve the Reunion program.
  • Alumni Engagement: Develop and manage the engagement strategy for Reunion-year classes, including recruiting and managing volunteer committees for 10 honored classes annually, to increase Reunion involvement in giving and class activities. Identify and develop alumni leaders to foster class affinity, support event outreach and campaign efforts, and serve as ambassadors for Texas Law through active committee participation. Strengthen the volunteer pipeline by encouraging alumni involvement in giving and regional events, and by recommending volunteers for mentoring and Alumni Association leadership roles. Prepare and present Reunion updates to the Alumni Association Executive Committee.
  • Fundraising: Lead the annual Reunion fundraising campaign to raise $1 million from alumni in honored classes. Design and execute peer-to-peer outreach and multi-channel solicitation efforts in close coordination with the Marketing & Communications team. Partner with the Development team to align donor strategies, maximize giving opportunities, and close leadership-level gifts. Identify and advance Reunion-year prospects for major, planned, and leadership annual gifts, contributing to the long-term donor pipeline through relationship-building and prospecting tools such as Class Books (brightcrowd.com).
  • Alumni Relations Team Leadership and Law School Collaboration: Serve as a senior leader within Texas Law’s Alumni Relations and Development team. Support team initiatives such as Alumni Awards, Tailgate, the Mentoring Program, and Annual Giving efforts. Provide regular updates on Reunion progress in team meetings, identify volunteer and donor leads, and represent the team at events, as needed. Work collaboratively across the Law School to advance alumni engagement and institutional goals.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • A minimum of five years of professional experience in alumni relations, development, fundraising, alumni engagement, event management, or a related field at a comparable level.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including alumni, donors, and volunteers.
  • Comfortable leading meetings and speaking with confidence in one-on-one and group settings, including volunteer committees and donor conversations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and capacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience in planning and executing events or engagement programs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using a CRM or donor database system.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a team and across departments.

  • Seven or more years of experience in alumni relations, development, or higher education; law school or professional school setting preferred.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) preferred.
  • Proven success leading volunteer committees and managing milestone events or giving campaigns.
