Job Description:
The Print Production Specialist helps the University Housing and Dining marketing and communications team coordinate print production. They are responsible for turning the graphic design team's designs/concepts into technically accurate hi-res print ready files. This role is also responsible for printing, cutting, mounting and delivering final products to campus partners as well as assisting with project estimates, purchase orders and invoicing. The Print Production Specialist reports to the project manager and works as part of a team of in-house graphic designers. A collaborative, communicative and organized person is needed in this position.

Responsibilities

Prepare detailed and organized hi-res final files to print on the in-house large/wide format printer. Manage print layouts (2up, 4up, etc) of files to maximize use of 60" wide format paper or vinyl banner material.

Reference project details and pack up printed materials for delivery, including packing/wrapping, labeling, addressing or looking up location details for delivery. Organize logistics for cross campus delivery. Communicating with recipient for confirmation. Hand delivery using campus vehicle may is required.

Prepare final files to send to a third-party printer/production ensuring all details from project are included.

Reference and follow existing style manuals, publication guidelines and university branding specifications when printing and editing files.

Work with existing design templates to resize, update copy/information, change photos or graphics and adjust layout in Adobe Creative Cloud programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).

Search and provide design team and project manager past print or digital files from shared server or cloud space as needed.

Work with project manager to obtain project estimates, and process purchase orders and invoices.

Maintain production related supply inventory and troubleshoot equipment to ensure maximum uptime.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Communication, Graphic Design or equivalent

At least one year professional experience in print production and graphic design

Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud with focus on Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat plus Microsoft office suite

Experience finalizing layouts, files and print assets

Experience using cutting instruments, using spray adhesive, mounting large format posters/art

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience using project management software (example: receiving direction, communicating and following projects within project management systems)

Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment at times

Knowledge of basic principles of design and typography

Team oriented, cooperative and supportive

Ability to take direction, attention to detail; thorough and accurate, no matter how small the task

Flexible; able to handle multiple tasks and deadlines, able to prioritize

Ability to work on a PC or ability to quickly adapt to PC based work

Salary Range

$41,700 depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

May work around standard office conditions

Work Shift

Monday - Friday 9:00am - 6:00pm. Hours and days may vary depending on the units needs.
