| Job Summary | To enforce the law, provide service, information and aid to all citizens as circumstances require, prevent crime, suppress disturbances, investigate criminal offenses, and arrest offenders. |
| Minimum Education and Experience | Basic Peace Officer Certification issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. At least two (2) years experience as a full-time commissioned peace officer within the state of Texas. |
| Preferred Education and Experience | At least 10 years of experience as a full-time commissioned peace officer within UT System or a state, county, or municipal police department with a minimum of 6 years of full-time investigative/detective work investigating violent crimes, property crimes, white-collar crimes, and vice and narcotics. Must be experienced in filing criminal cases in a municipality, county, and district courts. |

| Additional Information | Must be able to hold a Peace Officer commission issued by the University of Texas System and a valid driver's license not subject to suspicion. Must be eligible to drive a University owned or leased motor vehicle. Must meet certain prerequisites established by the Office of the Director of Police, the U.T. System Board of Regents and the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement concerning age requirements and physical, mental and educational standards. Must have the physical and mental capabilities to properly carry out responsibilities and duties as a commissioned Peace Officer of The University of Texas System. Must possess effective written, oral and communication skills. Must have knowledge and skills in emergency medical procedures, first aid and CPR techniques. This position is classified as security-sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of section 51.215, Texas Education Code.
