Job Summary
In support of the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (NSM) enrollment, retention, and graduation goals, the Program Specialist establishes and administers programs for graduate and/or undergraduate students. This position represents NSM to targeted constituencies and/or territories. They develop and maintain relationships with identified partners across UT Dallas and the community. In addition, they leverage opportunities to enhance recruitment efforts and implement effective plans.
Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in a related field, with five years of experience working with students and programs in higher education, or related community programs; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

We are seeking candidates who can work collaboratively in teams and with communities comprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. The successful candidate will possess excellent organization, communication, and facilitation skills and will demonstrate a strong commitment to assessment and continuous improvement.

The following qualifications are also preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in student affairs, marketing, human resource management, or related field
  • 5 years of progressive experience in a higher education setting in recruiting, admissions, career services, onboarding, or other student services
  • Experience in a sales or marketing environment welcomed
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee multiple tasks with attention to detail, a motivated/enthusiastic work style, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Represent NSM and participate in on-campus and off-campus recruitment events; visit middle schools, high schools, community outreach events and community colleges.
  • Meet with school advisors, administrators and/or other constituent groups to promote NSM undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver outreach programs and marketing strategies, including community workshops, retreats, and related recruitment efforts; refer prospective students and parents to tours.
  • Serve independently as the point person for internal coordination of university student recruitment and enrollment management goals utilizing specific knowledge gained of admissions, registration criteria, and financial aid and/or scholarship information and deadlines.
  • Provide knowledge, advice, and counseling regarding NSM undergraduate and graduate degrees; assist prospective students with understanding admissions, orientation, and enrollment processes.
  • Independently develop and maintain partnerships between the university, local school systems, alumni networks, faculty, community partners, and other identified groups throughout the assigned territory/population.
  • Coordinate participation of NSM and University, faculty, staff and alumni for college recruitment fairs, conferences, and related outreach events; coordinate event-specific organizational aspects, promotional materials, and information.
  • Organize, implement, and engage in all aspects of large, multi departmental special events and webinars utilizing presentation and promotional materials; represent NSM at local, statewide, and national events.
  • Create and maintain reports of contact information for prospective students to execute recruiting campaigns via mail, phone, email, as well as traditional and nontraditional media; utilize CRM to manage some of these contacts and outreach efforts.
  • Respond to queries from prospective students and families; refer and connect prospective students to various campus offices and NSM departments.
  • Create, package, monitor, and distribute accessible resource materials in Adobe or Canva for student recruitment and retention programs.
  • Develop mentorship program.
  • Analyze trends in recruitment and retention programs; develop strategies for program evaluation and continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties and assist with special projects as requested.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Must be able to travel off campus for recruitment visits, attend professional development opportunities, and engage in other relevant events. Must possess the willingness and ability to work an unconventional work schedule that may include evenings and weekends.
