Director of Admissions & Recruitment

Position Summary
The Director of Admissions and Recruitment will report directly to the Associate Dean for Admissions and Student Services. The Director of Admissions and Recruitment will oversee both admissions processes and recruitment for UIWSOM.

This position is considered a “Responsible Employee” under Title IX federal regulations and “Mandatory Reporter” under Texas state law and the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy. As a Mandatory Reporter, this position requires you, as the employee, to promptly report any incident that you witness or receive information about Title IX violations. These reporting responsibilities are set out in the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy.

Description of Job Duties
  • Plan, coordinate and manage all aspects of the UIWSOM application process.
  • Manage UIWSOM application and recruiting database and CRM vendor, including the monitoring of data feeds, re-configuring and testing changes in systems, and provide overall support for platform.
  • Oversee both application review and MMI (Multiple Mini Interview) interview processes.
  • Train, recruit and organize interviewers participating in MMI candidate days.
  • Coordinate the use of the national medical school application with the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine Application Service (AACOMAS).
  • Serve as “point person” for inquiries, applicants, faculty, alumni, and other interested parties.
  • Prepare application/admissions reports to help guide strategic planning.
  • Complete prerequisite evaluations for DO applicants.
  • Train internal and external DO application screeners.
  • Screen DO applications.
  • Assist with admissions committee preparation.
  • Coordinate communication plan for applicants and admitted students.
  • Ensure timely processing and completion of applications.
  • Serve as liaison with main campus technology personnel.
  • Serve as advisor for UIWSOM admissions policies.
  • Supervise recruitment coordinator and recruiter.
  • Work with recruitment coordinator and recruiter to implement all SOM recruitment activities including fairs, presentations, information sessions, virtual sessions, conferences, etc.….
  • Coordinate readmission process for returning students.
  • Give presentations to prospective DO, MBS, and Direct Admit students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrate effective time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Required Education
Master’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or related field.

Required Work Experience
  • Experience with developing online data collection tools and menus related to admissions.
  • Three to five years of admissions and recruiting experience
  • Three years of supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Admissions experience at a professional school, specifically an Osteopathic medical school.
  • Knowledge of Ellucian Banner database.
  • CRM experience.
  • Experience with centralized application services (CAS).
  • Experience with working with admissions databases.

Typical Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm with occasional extended hours/weekends to meet departmental needs.
