Job Summary

University Information Technology ( UIT ) has an opening for an IT Manager position withinSoftware Platform Services. (https://it.utah.edu/orgcharts/software-services.php) This position will manage the high-performing Application Platform Support teams responsible for supporting the platform/infrastructure for hosting enterprise web applications including deployment pipelines and automation, PeopleSoft middle tier, and enterprise facility systems for the University of Utah. The position will manage budgets, maintain/implement policies, develop roadmaps, ensure proper functioning of responsible systems and services, oversee engineering and implementation of systems/upgrades/compliance, and guide long-term goals that support the organization’s needs.

Responsibilities

- Manage technical teams responsible for engineering, installation, configuration, and administration of the platform/ infrastructure for hosting enterprise web application along with deployments and automation, PeopleSoft middle tier, and enterprise facility systems

- Manage and monitor KPIs for responsible services

- Recruit, manage, and retain our talent pool

- Work closely with multiple teams, departments, customers, and other stakeholders

- Develop and manage budgets, contracts, vendor relationships

- Ensure best practices and standards for responsible systems/services

- Ensure proper functioning of related systems and oversee system implementations, upgrades, disaster recovery, and compliance

- Develop, propose, and manage roadmaps, cost models, and MOUs

- Implement and maintain policies and goals that support the organization’s IT needs

- Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalency and at least 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Department Specifics:

- Experience with effectively leading technical IT teams, strategic and tactical planning, managing day-to-day operations, incident management, vendor and contract management, and fulfillment of service requests

- Experience with successfully deploying on-premises and cloud (e.g., Azure, AWS , Google) information systems/solutions

- Demonstrated effective professional leadership, written and oral communication, diplomacy and tact, and interpersonal skills

- Demonstrated ability to foster trust and confidence

- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills

- Strong conflict management skills

- Excellent customer service skills

- Excellent attention to detail

- Excellent project management skills, including organization, planning, time management, etc.

Preferences

- Experience with Linux and Windows server, PeopleSoft infrastructure, container, CI/CD pipeline, load balancer and automation technologies
