The Department of Laboratory Medicine serves as a regional resource for clinical laboratory services required for patient care, research, and educational programs in laboratory medicine. The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology department has an outstanding opportunity for aLAB ASSISTANT (INTERMITTENT, NIGHT-SHIFT)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Obtains specimens from inpatients, outpatients and outreach accounts according to the time guidelines established by the department
Logs tests in the computer, labels, centrifuges, prepares aliquots, and delivers specimens
Processes, prepares and ships reference lab samples, according to reference laboratory specifications
Answers technical questions relating to laboratory procedures and polices
Troubleshoots and resolves problems and customer service issues
As assigned, locates patient results and generates reports/faxes.
Cleans, maintains, and stocks exam and work areas
May be required to drive a hospital-owned vehicle as a function of job
REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Phlebotomists are required to have an active Washington State issued MA-Phlebotomist Certification
If required to drive as part of job, incumbent must possess a valid Washington State driver's license with clean driving record
