The Division of Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M) is a full-spectrum service organization that builds, maintains, and operates the physical environment of UW-Madison in support of the university's education, research, and outreach activities. We are responsible for everything from the building projects that change the face of campus to the flowers that beautify the grounds.

More about our Transportation Services department:
UW Transportation Services is a department within Facilities Planning and Management (FP&M) on the UW-Madison campus. We serve a variety of customers with a diverse set of parking and transportation needs. Transportation Services is responsible for the coordination and administration of all transportation-related services for the UW campus community. Primary functions include the sale/management of parking permits, special event coordination, maintenance and enforcement, construction coordination, lot and booth operations, citation payments and appeals, information technology, financial, transportation planning, and development of multimodal options.

More about the Motor Vehicle Operator-Light TE position:
This position will be held in the Fleet and Garage sub department of our Transportation Department. The Motor Vehicle Operator will be responsible for operating institutional vehicles which transport packages, materials, and/or personnel in a pick up and delivery capacity to support university transportation needs.

Responsibilities:

Operates institutional vehicles which transport packages, material, and/or personnel in a pick up and delivery capacity to support university transportation needs.
  • 25% Picks up and delivers freight to and from internal and external affiliates as directed
  • 25% Operates vehicles and other equipment; and navigates vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic in congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and parking lots
  • 20% Unloads, stages, inspects, and inventories freight to ensure accuracy and acceptable condition according to established rules and regulations
  • 5% Inspects, maintains, and repairs vehicles daily based on established requirements
  • 5% Identifies and reports damaged equipment and products to the appropriate entities
  • 20% Cleans, fuels, and parks cars and also clears snow for a daily rental operation

Qualifications:

A qualified candidate will have 2 years of driving experience

License/Certification:

Required
Drivers License - Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended based on need and/or funding.

Salary:

$16.00 HOURLY
Fixed
The hourly rate for this position is $16.00 per hour.
