Position Summary:
The Student Employment Coordinator will act as a Human Resources generalist for all student employment needs, including recruitment of over 700 student employees per year or up to 150 simultaneous recruitment requisitions, payroll processing, onboarding and offboarding for all student employees, creation and delivery of recruitment and payroll training for managers of student employees, management of the Student Employee Handbook and webpage, and creation and accurate application of student job description library and pay structure. The Student Employment Coordinator will receive, respond to, and resolve all student employment questions and inquiries. May supervise student employees.
This is a full time, benefit, and paid leave eligible position. Salary is $47,000.

Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage payroll processing for Student Employees: (Regular & Work Study – On and Off Campus).
- Coordinate with Financial Aid Office and department leadership on any change in policies and procedures concerning student payroll.
- Enter and update tax information, authorized approver and backup approvers, direct deposit information, and funding.
- Monitor student payroll for duplicate or missed time clock entries, informing supervisors as necessary.
- Upload FICA report bi-weekly for all payroll types.
- Monitor funding errors and make corrections as necessary.
- Run and review various payroll reports.
- Process wage increase/title change requests.
- Serve as contact person for Student Payroll Federal and State Audits.
- Process lump sum payment requests for Student Employees.
- Interpret policies and procedures and explain student payroll procedures, Social Security rules, exemption status and other related matters.
- Draft, edit and distribute notices and instructions involving time entry submittal deadlines, pay dates, time approval deadline and any processing changes to all departments and off campus agencies. Orient new supervisor and staff of policies and procedures.
- Communicate payroll needs, policies, and requirements to department leadership.
- Attend New Student Registration and promote on-campus student employment.
- Student Verification of Employment/Unemployment/Affordable Care Act.
- Provide backup support to bi-weekly Payroll for faculty and staff.
- Perform criminal background checks, mandatory training verifications, and required reference checks for youth program staff and volunteers.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree; OR 3 years experience in a Human Resources or Office Administrator role
- Three (3) years' experience in Human Resources or office administrator role
- Excellent time management skills, personal sense of urgency in one’s work, and tendency to be proactive
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills and engagement, able to adapt to a variety of communication styles
- Highly adaptable and able to easily change priorities throughout the day
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills, comfortable learning new systems and applications; previous website content steward experience at UW Platteville preferred
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook is a must
- Demonstrated workplace professionalism, including a high personal standard for confidentiality
- Ability to promote a positive and productive work environment
