Program Director - Family & Youth Peer Support Service

University Settlement’s continuum of services for children and families serves families throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn. The Family and Peer Support Program is a new program that will serve families and children throughout Manhattan through a Network of Alliance Partners. The Alliance Coordinator will serve as the program lead for the borough-wide program that will include University Settlement, The Door and Association to Benefit Children as partners. As the Alliance Coordinator she/he/they will have oversight of the development and building of a new Peer Support Program model that will be integrated into existing child mental and behavioral health services and support children and families being connected to care and supports.  

 

The Director of Peer Advocate Support would have experience overseeing budgets specifically in the non-profit sector, managing government contracts, managing multiple providers/sub-contractors, gathering data and submitting reports that include contract outcomes, basic computer skills and knowledge of office applications. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead an Alliance of three non-profit organizations, with University Settlement serving as the Alliance lead, to provide Family and Youth Peer Advocate programming and support for the borough of Manhattan.  

  • Hire, train and supervise a team of Family Peer Advocates, Youth Peer Advocates, Supervisor and a Data Analyst.  

  • Provide supervision to Peer Support Program Supervisors at each Alliance organization.  

  • Oversight of a comprehensive training curriculum and supervision schedule for all Peer Support Program staff.  

  • Develop program materials to be used for community outreach, community education sessions and workshops and for children and parents/caregivers.  

  • Oversee and ensure outreach to community partners, families and individuals through the creation and facilitation of program outreach materials, facilitation of events such as information sessions and meetings and workshops in the community 

  • Oversee the integration of Peer Advocates into child and family mental health and/or support teams at each Alliance organization. Provide training and information to existing Alliance organization programs about the value of the Peer Support Program.  

  • Serve as the liaison to providers, partners and DOHMH for the Peer Support Program.  

  • Oversight of all data collection, reports and quality improvement initiatives through the supervision of staff and Data Analyst.  

  • Responsible for timely reports to all Alliance organizations, University Settlement AED and DOHMH as per contract.  

  • Responsible for oversight of fidelity to Peer Support Program mission through supervision and monitoring of service delivery. 

  • Responsible for oversight of and maintaining all records and all required reporting including to funding partner(s) and agency. 

  • Schedule and facilitate regular staff meetings and individual supervision that ensures high quality services and programming. 

  • Serve as a lead collaborator and representative for the Peer Support Program with all partners; University Settlement, The Door, Association to Benefit Children, DOHMH and community partners. 

  • Responsible for program budget oversight. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • MSW/MPH/ or other Human Service Degree with at least 5 years of experience serving families and youth impacted by trauma, poverty and other stressors.  

  • Understanding of and experience with Peer Support Services, case management services, including home based service delivery and knowledge of existing resources, systems and specialized programs. 

  • Comprehensive understanding of family dynamics and experience transferring pragmatic and clinical knowledge into successful work and outcomes with families and youth. 

  • Experience with the start-up of a program including planning and implementation. 

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities, including administrative and clinical, while also providing guidance and supervision to a new team.  

  • Highly organized, proactive and creative leader who is willing to be “hands-on” with families, youth and the community and take the lead with troubleshooting obstacles and problems. 

  • Proven track record of capacity to collaborate with partners and success building strong effective teams. 

  • Experience with data collection and analysis, including working with various data collection systems and partners.  

  • Experience with fiscal management and program budgeting.  

 

Work Schedule: Full time, Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm, some evenings and weekends for special events, 35 per week, hybrid
