JOB PURPOSE
Working Under the direction of physician/ provider. The MA is responsible to assist in the examination and treatment of patients delivering high quality care and services, maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist Physician during exams and medical procedures.
- Take medical histories and perform vital signs.
- Entering data into EMR.
- Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments.
- Manage Laboratory and diagnostics tests.
- Perform Routine Medical Tasks.
- Coordinates patients as directed by providers, company Standards and policies.
- Functions effectively in a Matrix Management environment.
- Completes any duties and special assignments as requested.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalency
- Graduation from a Medical Assistant Program
- Current, nationally recognized Medical assistant Certification or Registration required or obtained within 90 days of employment.
- Current CPR certification or obtained within 90 days of employment.
- Basic computer literacy required
- Knowledge of medical terminology required
- Good communication and customer service skills required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of CLIA and OSHA guidelines
- Knowledge of sterilization and disinfection procedures.
- Knowledge of HIPAA laws and ability to adhere to confidentiality policies.
- Knowledge of current medical assistant best practices and procedures including EKG and basic drugs.
- Knowledge of medical and pharmacology terminology and medical office procedures
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Working knowledge of patient management software and basic Microsoft office products. EPIC Preferred.
- Ability to identify and apply proper communication methods in patient instruction.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret and read documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent telephone and customer service skills.
- Skills to implement good safety practices that prevent exposure to known workplace hazards and the necessary action needed when exposed
- Skill in applying and modifying principles, methods and techniques of a medical assistant to provide ongoing patient care.
- Strong attention to detail skills.
- Experience: preferred one year medical assisting experience in an ambulatory/clinical setting
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- May include standing, sitting, and/or walking for extended periods
- May include performing repetitive tasks
- May include working on a special schedule (i.e. evenings and weekends with clients)
- May include working with challenging patients and clients
- May include lifting up to 25 pounds
- Ability to use logic reasoning for simple and complex problem solving.
- Occasionally requires exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
