UNMTemps, the University of New Mexico's internal
temporary staffing department, seeks a temporary Lifeguard to join the Recreational Services Department.
You have been requested by name for this temporary assignment. Since
this is not a competitive placement, this position is not eligible for the
temp-to-regular program through UNMTemps.
Lifeguards must maintain patron surveillance of the facility while enforcing rules and regulations effectively as directed by the University and State of New Mexico Environment Department. Must be able to: spot dangers and potential hazards to prevent serious injury or accident; control and report unruly behavior; maintain accurate detailed documentation of headcount, first aid practices and others; perform cleaning duties. Must act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of an emergency. Must provide emergency care and treatment as a team as set by American Red Cross standards and procedures.
Exceeding the Red Cross standards, UNM lifeguards must be able to swim 500 yards in 10 minutes or less, swim with a 10-pound brick for 25 yards, and retrieve a 10-pound brick from 14 feet depth and tread with it on the surface for one minute.
