Position Overview

UP Excellence Academy is seeking an innovative and passionate STEAM Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math through hands-on, project-based learning. This teacher will also lead an afterschool STEAM club twice a week, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration beyond the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Duties:

• Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned STEAM lessons that incorporate critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity.
• Utilize project-based learning and experiential activities to connect STEAM concepts to real-world applications.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including emergent bilinguals and students with diverse abilities.
• Integrate technology and digital tools into daily instruction to enhance learning experiences.

Classroom Environment:

• Create a dynamic, student-centered learning environment that fosters curiosity, innovation, and a growth mindset.
• Maintain a well-organized and resource-rich classroom, showcasing student projects and achievements.

Collaboration and Development:

• Collaborate with colleagues to align STEAM initiatives with the school’s instructional goals and curriculum.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with STEAM education trends and best practices.

Afterschool STEAM Club:

• Design and lead an after-school STEAM club for students twice a week from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM, focusing on hands-on projects and challenges.
• Encourage student participation in competitions, showcases, or community events to highlight their work.
• Promote teamwork, innovation, and excitement about STEAM disciplines in a fun and supportive environment.

Communication and Outreach:

• Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress, projects, and STEAM club activities.
• Encourage family and community involvement in STEAM-related events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a STEAM-related field ( preferred).
• Valid teaching certification or committment to enroll in a Texas certifcation program.
• Experience teaching STEAM subjects or leading STEAM-based activities is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of project-based learning, technology integration, and interdisciplinary instruction.
• Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
