Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is hiring a Carpenter who will perform a variety of carpentry, construction, repair and maintenance services in and around the buildings of the hospital complex.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize various power tools, planer, sander, saws, drills, etc to perform essential functions.
- Assemble and installs wooded pieces using glue, nails and screws.
- Inspect equipment and facilities for proper operation and working conditions.
- Record time and material expended.
- Smooth surfaces using sandpaper, putty knives, wet sponge, etc.
- Build appropriate framework.
- Remove snow and ice.
- Properly fill joints, nail and screw holes and cracks.
- Perform routine repairs, replacement alterations and installations of: doors and hardware (locks, hinges, stops, knobs, windows, etc.), formica, laminate products, plexiglass, different types of beds and cribs, furniture, desks, files cabinets, etc.; suspended ceilings; drywall wallboard systems. Installs all types of flooring linoleum, carpet, etc.
- Maintain routine records of preventive maintenance and repairs.
- Replace glass windows.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manufacturer's equipment manuals, etc.
- Prepare drywall wallboard system with smooth finish for paint.
- Select stock, tools and supplies. Requisition lumber and hardware
