Medical Coordinator I - West Mifflin, PA

The UPMC Center for Emergency Medicine is looking to hire a Full-Time Medical Coordinator to support the STAT MedEvac Communications Center.

Schedule:

• (2) 8-hour shifts and (2) 12-hour shifts
• Rotating days, nights and weekends
• One call shift per week

Purpose:

STAT-MD is a physician driven service providing consultation services to commercial airlines. The Medical Coordinator is required to act as the initial point of contact and facilitator in obtaining and providing accurate information to the STAT-MD physician. The Medical Coordinator needs to process and coordinate information quickly, efficiently and proficiently.

Responsibilities:

• Answer incoming calls to the STAT-MD Communication Center, determining the emergent or non-emergent nature of the call and processing per departmental guidelines. Accurately and efficiently maintain file documentation, including transcribing information received during consultations with the physician. All documentation must be completed by the end of each shift. Coordinate communications between clients, customers, facilities, physicians, and/or associated personnel. Participate in daily quality assurance reviews as directed making changes based on departmental guidelines. Contact and coordinate with the appropriate supervisor for unusual operations. Working knowledge of the multiple communication methods utilized in the department.
