Join the UPMC Northwest team as a casual Phlebotomist! This position offers varied shifts (4:30am-1:00pm, 10:30am-7:00pm, 12:30pm-9:00pm), serving approximately 12 hours per week. In this role, there is the opportunity to -
- Interact with laboratory customers professionally, ensuring timely responses to inquiries.
- Follow patient identification procedures to collect blood specimens via venipuncture, heelstick, and fingerstick.
- Demonstrate reliability and independent judgment to prioritize tasks based on department needs.
- Transport specimens from on-site and off-site locations to the appropriate laboratory sections safely.
- Adhere to laboratory and hospital policies on procedures, quality control, safety, and compliance.
- Perform clerical duties, accurately entering demographic and test information into the system.
- Train and orient new employees, students, and residents, as assigned.
- Inform technical staff or supervisors of any unusual or problematic incidents related to specimen collection.
