Responsibilities:
- Procure appropriate blood specimens using venipuncture, heelstick, and fingerstick techniques.
- Instruct patients on collection procedures for self-collected laboratory specimens and collect other types of samples as needed.
- Transport specimens from collection areas to the laboratory while following established safety procedures.
- Interact courteously and professionally with all laboratory customers; respond to telephone inquiries promptly.
- Demonstrate reliability and independent judgment, prioritizing tasks to meet departmental needs and accepting appropriate authority.
- Adhere to laboratory and hospital policies regarding procedures, quality control, safety, and personnel policies.
- Perform documentation duties, including entering demographic information, test orders, and managing sample data using computer systems.
- Train and orient new employees, students, and residents; inform technical staff and supervisors of unusual incidents.
Salary : $18 - $27
