Responsibilities:

Maintain Competency:
- Attend a minimum of 2 unit-based or institute-wide in-services yearly.
- Learn and utilize up-to-date technology and practices in patient care delivery.

Patient Support:
- Encourage patients to perform or assist them in activities of daily living.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the milieu program for consistent, therapeutic care.
- Manage crisis situations effectively using positive approaches.
- Assist nursing staff in providing physical care.

Documentation and Communication:
- Document in the medical record according to established policies.
- Maintain ongoing communication with the treatment team and charge nurse regarding patient observations and care provided.
- Participate in interdisciplinary activities, including treatment team meetings, staff meetings, and co-worker feedback processes.

Organizational Support:
- Assist in preparing and organizing paperwork on the night shift to ensure smooth care coordination throughout the day.
- Take initiative to maintain the unit environment.
