Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood’s mission is to promote healthy sexuality and reproductive choice through exceptional services, honest education and fearless advocacy. We serve the greater Capital District and operate health centers in Albany, Troy and Hudson, NY.
Our Education Department is looking for a full-time Sexual Health Educator who is interested in facilitating sexual health education programs throughout the Capital Region. The Sexual Health Educator will be responsible for the ongoing facilitation of sexuality education programs and community outreach to a wide range of participants throughout the Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood service area. A key component will be the provision of evidence-based sexuality education programs and the engagement of parents/caregivers in sexuality education activities as part of the NYS Department of Health CAPP (Comprehensive Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention) community-based initiative.

Requirements
Essential Functions
The core responsibilities of the position include facilitation of educational programs on a wide range of sexual health topics including evidence informed sexual health curricula to participants in schools, community-based organizations, and other venues as needed. Emphasis will be placed on engagement of middle school and high school aged participants in the provision of sexuality education. The Sexual Health Educator will assist with the arrangement, scheduling, and delivery of educational programs throughout Albany, Rensselaer, and Columbia Counties. Compilation of all required data and evaluations as part of educational activities including attendance records, program evaluations, as well as program and participant assessments.
- Collaborate with education department staff and other professionals in the creation and implementation of educational curricula and activities as needed.
- Increase community awareness of UHPP education efforts and services, as well as the Youth Health Promoter program through community outreach and networking opportunities.
- Remain informed and educated on current on issues relating to sexuality education as well as current community trends and needs.
- Attend relevant agency, and community meetings as necessary.
- Assist VP for Education with monitoring of required goals, milestones, reports and budgets.
- Other duties as assigned by the VP for Education.
- Up to 50% travel required (Albany, Rensselaer & Columbia County)
- Evening and weekend hours are required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA or BS in health education, social work, human services, or relevant field.
- At least two years of experience in the following: facilitation of sexual health programs, creation of educational program outlines and plans, and working with youth and adolescent population.
- Educational or training experience with a diverse range of participants including, but not limited to: school aged youth, special needs populations, adults, parents, and/or other professionals.
- Familiarity with and experience providing evidence based sexual health interventions.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with an emphasis on multi-tasking, data collection, and record keeping.
- Excellent computer and technology-based skills especially as they relate to: data collection, database maintenance, and the use of emerging technologies for educational activities.
- Recognition of the need to empower young people to make informed choices about their reproductive health.
- Committed to positive youth development as well as department goals.
