Position Responsibilities
- Plans, schedules and coordinates departmental activities and employees to ensure sales order items are properly prepared and shipped on time and in full.
- Creates work schedules for employees and prioritizes daily workload for all shipping team members.
- Provides leadership and direction to maximize department efficiency while maintaining all company safety standards.
- Responsible for interviewing, training and development of new and existing employees.
- Implements policies, procedures and improvements in packaging and shipping processes to support departmental goals and objectives.
- Monitors employee performance and assists with employee feedback and training.
- Responsible for tracking employee attendance in accordance with the company attendance policy.
- Facilitates all transportation, trucking and freight for Upside.
- Schedules flat bed and partial trucks, creates and receives PO’s, and point of contact to resolve trucking issues.
- Communicates issues, schedules and actions real-time to PM’s, production, planning, etc.
- Manages all shipping issues, reconsignments and any claims for damage, coordinates corrective action with shipping team.
- Set up customer arranged shipments.
- Negotiate freight rates with third party freight vendors.
- Negotiate and schedule dedicated freight shipments to meet customer and installation needs.
- Help develop future shipping and receiving KPIs, dashboards, etc. to improve processes and efficiencies.
- Evaluate packaging requirements for all products to better ensure damage free delivery of products.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 3-5 years logistics experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of HS education with 3 years of experience in a shipping/distribution leadership role.
- Excellent understanding of material handling/packaging processes, and inventory management methods and controls.
- Strong people leadership skills, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and experience with ERP systems.
- Ability to stand and walk continuously (75% or more of shift).
- Ability to bend, stoop, twist, reach, kneel, climb, and handle/manipulate frequently.
- Ability to help shipping team as necessary, including driving a forklift and/or lifting up to 100 pounds.
